- May Crowning Update: Fr. Tony requested that May Crowning be done only at the 10:30 mass with KC’s participation. Mothers will walk their children down the aisle. The children should be dressed in their First Communion outfits. Rita wrote notes for Fr Tony, so he can refer back for the details. Rita will contact Grace about the music. Lois will update the flyer and submit it to Sr. Carol for distribution. Dawn knows the Owner of the Monti flower shop and will talk with her about flowers for this event. Participants will receive prayer cards with medals from CCW.
- Votive Candles: Marbles have been added inside the votive cups to raise the candles to make it easier to light, and for safety of the candle wax in the votive.
- Donation toward Easter Flowers: Check was submitted to the parish office today.
- Reconciliation Room Furniture: See Treasurer’s Report.
- Recovering of gathering space benches & chairs: Sharon took a chair to a upholstery shop and received an estimate of approx $350 per chair to recover and repair them. Sharon also looked at new furniture at a couple of furniture stores. She spoke with a local contact who could assist with the purchase of new chairs at a discounted price. Sharon and Janelle will looking for 6 new chairs. Benches will be done at a later day with coordinating fabric to compliment the chairs. It was also suggested that due to the unstable condition of the chairs currently used in the gathering space, we might consider using some of the chairs from behind tabernacle temporarily until new ones are purchased. Lois made motion to accept this plan of action, seconded Dawn. Everyone approved.
- Purchase of fans for kitchen: LaMont is waiting for rewiring to be done by KC’s before the fans are purchased.
- Mission Donation Update: Shared a detailed list of donations made to various missions. This is a very successful outreach program for our faith community, and CCW is thankful for all who have participated and donated their time, talent and materials to this cause. This group continues to meet the 2nd and 4th Monday morning of each month. Watch the bulletin for more details.
NEW BUSINESS:
ACCW Award: Janelle was encouraged by Judy Beaudry of the NW Deanery to submit a nomination form on Carrie Theisen for the Lay Woman’s Award, and we found out on Tuesday that Carrie won the award – Congratulations Carrie! Carrie was notified this past weekend by a letter. A special mass, reception, and other events will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at St Olaf’s in Minneapolis honoring the ladies who earned the Lay Woman’s award. CCW will pay the registration fee for all ladies who wish to attend. Form must be completed by each participant and mailed with the registration fee. Those interested in attending should notify Janelle or Lois by April 3rd – we would like to submit registration forms by April 10th. We are planning to carpool from St Henry’s.
Scholarship Update: CCW will work with Kym Allex to post the scholarship application form on the Youth Group’s website. Applications must be submitted by the due date to be considered. CCW will appoint a Selection Team to review the applications, and submit the names of the recipients to the CCW Officers for the two $500 scholarships. The scholarships will be presented at the Baccalaureate Mass in May. Per our conversation with John Cox and approval from the KC members, the KC’s will bring their scholarship donations back in-house next year and follow the same program.
Nomination of Officers: We will be searching for a person interested in our CCW Vice President position.
Home Delivered Meals (Mahon’s in charge): Janelle called the Mahon’s, who head this project every year and have volunteers assigned for the deliveries. CCW will assist as needed.
Graduation Breakfast in May: As in past years, CCW will donate funds to this event.
Kitchen Clean-up: Volunteers will clean the kitchen in mid-April (after Easter). Date to be determined.
Funeral Luncheons: CCW updated the funeral luncheon form, which will be submitted to Fr. Tony for approval to be used in the funeral packets. The form details the food options and that payment for this service would be submitted to CCW. We discussed other possible food options, and will do some price checking for those options. It was suggested that we discuss the cost of paper products used at funerals, currently paid from the church’s budget with Fr. Tony.
Discussion – What other projects should CCW consider for this year?
- Retreat – Possibly Garden Tea with blessing of stations and statue of Jesus. Sharon will discuss with Kathy Kelly. Sharon has had conversation with Sr Emily about her possibly doing a retreat for us. Also received information on Joyce Rupp, another possible speaker, may consider going to “Clare’s Well” in Annandale, or having Fr Ray (Rita’s friend) who lives in Avon speak. Also want to include the ladies from St Ben’s.
- Marilyn has Marge Lundeen’s business card to ask about table crosses we saw at St. John’s in Annandale. Marge is also a potential retreat speaker.
