Formal Prayers in the Daily Catholic of our Children
Parents are the primary teachers of children! We ask parents to help children with their formal prayers as part of the Catholic Family. Children starting at the age of 3 can begin to learn the formal prayers. When a child receives the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the fall of second grade they should know; the Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, Act of Contrition, Grace before and after meals. By the end of the fifth grade they should know; the Glory Be and Apostle’s Creed. We encourage parents to say these prayers on a daily basis; the best way for children to learn their prayers. Some times that are good for family prayers is at meal time or before going to bed.
Valentine Cards
During the next two weeks students will be making Valentine Cards for the St. Benedict Center. If you know of a person that would enjoy receiving a card from a child please call the parish office and leave the name and address.

New Year
The beginning of the new year is a time for prayerful gratitude. I am especially grateful to you and for you. Catechists are committed to presenting experience of faith to your child/children in the classroom that affirm the experience of faith being lived at home. Making this connection is critical to your child’s/children’s faith formation. Every week students in Grades Preschool—-Grade 8 bring home a Gospel Weekly. Families are asked to share the Gospel story for Sunday and extend the lesson on the home front. The web site listed in the Gospel Weekly has many additional ideas for the family.
