Appalachian Missions – Thank you everyone for your suppport of this project!
HISTORY of Mission Outreach Committee
This Committee began in 1988 with Sister Diana Blong as Chairperson. The group began at the end of RENEW sessions by participants who felt called to continue what they had begun in their spiritual journey. Their original title was the Lazareth’s Group. Haiti was taken on as their project with medical supplies, school bags with school supplies, and people, being gathered and sent to Haiti. This was an all-parish encompassing project.
Our goal is to minister to and devise programs for assisting the poor, the underprivileged, the sick, the elderly, the lonely, those with special needs, and those in need of emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.
The committee members evaluate, prioritize, and promote specific Mission Outreach programs for parish involvement, currently including:
- Lenten Soup Supper Tuesdays during Lent
- Collection of articles for Our Mother’s Cupboard
- Feed My Starving Children’s educational work-service opportunity
Volunteers are sought to serve on this committee and also to work with the Feed My Starving Children’sprogram.
